Northern Soul Design Charette

01 Mar Northern Soul Design Charette

In March 2015 UCLan hosted the third of the RIBA’s annual Northern Regional design charrettes – bringing together five students from each of the participating regional architecture courses at universities at Huddersfield, Northumbria, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool and, of course, UCLan along with architects and others. The intensive one-day design challenge focused on redesigning the historical Stoneygate area of Preston – as an area that Preston City Council is planning to regenerate.

So, in addition to meeting and working with other students from around the country, working collaboratively to share ideas and learn from each other – all the students’ ideas will go on to feed into the Preston Open City Group for consideration – so enabling them to use the experience as a means to participate actively in a real live project.
