01 May Preston Bus Station Competition
Lancashire County Council invited UK and international architects and urban designers to enter this competition for the development of the iconic grade II listed Preston Bus Station and its adjoining western apron, to include the provision of a brand new Youth Zone, a state of the art facility for the young people of Preston.
Students from all courses in UCLan took part in a one-day design competition to build next to the iconic bus station.
UCLan students and staff teamed up with designer Wayne Hemmingway, MAKE Architects and They Eat Culture to submit a combined entry, which unfortunately was not shortlisted. Architects John Puttick Associates (ex-MAKE) eventually won the final round of the competition.
