Student Mentoring Scheme

01 Nov Student Mentoring Scheme

A collaboration with RIBA North West and the Lancashire Society of Architects

Twenty-four Year 3 students signed up to participate in this scheme – an expansion of the successful mentoring collaboration between the RIBA NW Region and the Manchester schools of architecture that was set up last year. An evening event brought together students and their mentors from the eleven different participating practices – representing a range of office structures and sizes along with types of project work – located throughout Lancashire and Cumbria. Dates for office visits and mentoring sessions within the practices have been confirmed as has the likely type and level of mentor input to student project work up until the end of March 2016. Expectations of the two parties have been set-out in the recent meetings held between students and mentors. Students have been greatly enthused by this scheme – seizing it as an opportunity to rehearse and prepare for their forthcoming year out and to sample practice at first-hand – and sometimes for the first time.
